Creation of a Social Network
Posted by Lindsayanng There is a really annoying catch 22 that surrounds social networking websites. When you are trying to create a community, you need to have activity to hopefully create more activity. I guess the whole thing is, people do not like to join a community that is dead, or only has 3 active members in it. So if that’s the case, how do you start one??
That’s a good darn question and it’s one that I have asked myself a bunch of times. Of coarse you can invite your friends, and work on other social media sites to pull people into your site, but when it is all said and done, you will not gain much for interest unless you have a solid, core group of people to just chatter back and forth on your site to get it rolling.
Well, that is what Nick over at Acid Lava is trying to do. He’s a really creative guy with a basic day job and a lot of creative juices flowing all over the place when he’s home apparently. I found him on a linkedin network. He posted his new business cards for review and I thought they were really cool and creative so I went to his website and found that there were a lot of cool things going on in his mind!
One of his main projects is cultivating this social network of other creative people who want to share ideas and creations with each other. He is urging an open forum to just talk about whatever it is you feel like, post pictures, sketches, and doodles. I regularly head over to his blog just to see what it is he is doing, so I joined the network and I definitely plan on being one of those people to help him get it going. I plan on being the person to stick around and chit chat and talk just to start to get things rolling. If people that join are as creative and as interesting as Nick, it will be an awesome little place on the net!
