I heart… Valentine’s Day
I have had this concept for a weekly post in my head for some time and the series was supposed to be called “I HEART…” and I had a really really hard time coming up with an image for it, but I put the pressure on myself to make one because there is no better time to kick off a post like this than Valentine’s Day! So I hemmed and hawed over what the graphic will look like for the head of these posts and I did about 30 different versions before I settled on what you see here now. A HEART made our of the letter i- an i heart if you will. . I think it’s typographical genius and it took me hours and hours to perfect (ok, so I’m really inflating my head now, but I am so happy with this job). Also, while designing this little gem I worked towards my goal of designing one project per month for pure personal satisfaction. I love it don’t you?
So on to the actual post. These will be about things that I heart. Little things in life that make me smile and make me feel lucky, whether it be an actual item, a person, or something obscure, it will have done something to brighten my day and hopefully yours too.
These little dolls are seriously the epitome of I heart.

I actually have a small collection of these guys and I was all prepared to write an article on how great the guy who makes them are and where to get them and then it happened. I sadly found out that the website that I got them from www.charmingdolls.com is not what it was a few years ago! I found an old email from the guy who used to hand make these and maybe I can get him to make more, but for now I must hold sacred these little dolls. I will definitely photograph my little collection for you so you can enjoy them with me!
These little guys also have some very special meaning to me. When my husband and I got married two years ago (9/22/2007) we did not have a lot of money to buy engagement rings so we went to the mall and each purchased cheap silver rings for $12 each. Although we had a nice large wedding paid for by our families, the rings were our responsibility and we chose not to put ourselves in debt for them. So the ring I got married with was a $12 plain silver band and Matt promised that he would one day buy me a matching wedding band. Fast forward one year and a few months and we were at my family’s house for Christmas eve where Matt and I usually exchange one present. I could tell he was itching to give it to me.
I opened the present to see my little yarn dolls and I was so happy that he had the forethought to buy something like this for me! Then, I opened the little plastic bag to stick them on my key chain and there it was. My new wedding band was wrapped around the little pink doll! So he gave me my new wedding band with these little love guys. Now I wear three rings on my left ring finger and always have to explain why. I don’t care that the other ring is cheap, it’s the one that we actually got married with and will always be special!
So guys.. what do you think?? What do I do about these little dolls being MIA? Have you ever seen anything so cute like this before?
oh, and what do you think about the new “i heart” series of posts?

It’s a very romantic gift, one that is truly for keeps.
By the way, the image you made was very artistic and nice.
I really like your I Heart graphic! Great job! And cute story about the ring!
Looks good.
I’m curious as to how many fonts are in it.
